hydrated

Last summer I took the Gallon Water Challenge. Initially a 30 day endeavor, I ended up sticking with it for a couple months plus. It delivered everything as promised – a constant feeling of needing to pee nonstop, having to pee constantly, getting up in the night to pee, getting up again in the night to pee some more, obsessive thoughts about pee-ing, paranoia that people were noticing how much I was pee-ing, an aversion to road trips and outings for fear of pee-ing myself…anyway you get the pitcher.

Aside from all the pee-ing, (which quite frankly is not much given all the time spent in the loo), I thought a lot about how chronically dehydrated most of us are most of the time for most of our lives. I don’t think a full gallon a day is necessary. It was torture after all. But it proved a point. Drink more water. If you think you’re drinking enough, drink more. Your entire organism will just feel and function a whole lot better in ways you’ll notice and some you won’t. But believe it, you need to be drinking more water. This applies to all of us but if you are on a keto diet, a critical component of the high fat low carb regimen is maxing out your daily water intake. So, cheers to water! May we pee our little hearts out forever more.
