fermented

Rotten eggs, curdled milk , blue cheese and steamed cabbage,

They’re all so stinky they belong in the garbage.

Like the mold that formed on top of homemade jam,

Which my grandmother scraped off. She didn’t give a damn!

My brothers bedroom, if you dared to enter

Was putrid as hell, socks just left to fester.

And curdled milk, it wasn’t put to waste,

Used to make scones! I still remember their gross taste.

I guess our olfactory senses are especially keen,

You could say the nose is like a time machine.

But really, why eat anything that offends us?

Surely it would have to be an elixir for the ages.

Ah, on that note, I have just the thing,

It’s fermented cabbage and its odor is grim.

But it does help build a super healthy gut

And it’s carb free and keto so guess what you’re in luck!
